This second offering of new music from Leeds-based On The Bone Records is a veritable smorgasbord of musical morsels and aural aperitifs from across West Yorkshire and the North. Comprised of 19 tracks, nearly all of which are brand new and unreleased, the compilation covers an astonishingly wide range of styles and genres in just under 80 minutes. From the elegant folk leanings of Paul Marshall and Fran Rogers to the perplexing instrumental mind-mess of That Fucking Tank; from worriedaboutsatan’s glitchy ambient blissout through to Napoleon IIIrd’s sweaty electro funk, there is a huge amount to dig into and surprisingly few dips in quality. The disc is sequenced logically so that similarly styled artists are grouped together, but not so much that it becomes too segmented – despite being as eclectic a mix as they come, each song flows on from the next without any real hiccups. Standout tracks from This Et Al, Glasgow’s The Twilight Sad, Pulled Apart By Horses and a sleazy NYC tribute from These Monsters are obvious highlights but with an overall level of quality this high, you’d be hard pressed to find many faults here.
