Of all the female singer/songwriters based in Leeds, Fran Rodgers is perhaps their most traditional. Her picked guitar and classic English country voice are hard to ignore. “I Fell To You Under Winter Sun” is a thoughtfully constructed ballad brimming with vocal power and expansive, projected skill. Like many of Fran’s peers - those who study the craft properly as opposed to playing at being a beatnik – she could find herself carrying a folk award around with her some time soon. A critical sound , preserved and developed for 21st century listening.
