Possessors of one of the great band names, That Fucking Tank certainly don’t undersell it in terms of ambition. Lean hardcore holler-fest The Awesome Magnet is full of time changes, odd rhythms and frankly only saves itself from progtastic excess by its energy and volume. Not that TFT are afraid of promoting proggy wibbling over your actual tunes – they’d probably embrace it as a virtue. Which makes instrumental b-side a bit tough going – before too long you’re checking to see if your fingernails need a quick trim and wondering if they’ll ever get on with it. They don’t. But the a-side’s worth the effort.
