Dark and menacing rock never sounded so, well, dark and menacing! Figure Eight, while set at a fast and frenetic pace, is the morbid side of depressing, while Medicine Hammer lifts the whole tone to a less than suicidal level. Ice Age is also a softer track, but we fade back to black with (The Tale Of) Frosty Jackson. Don't get me wrong, while this isn't music to impress your date with (unless she's a goth), there's a great deal to appreciate in its superb arrangements and soaring vocals.

And it all bodes well for the full LP follow-up, scheduled for late 2008.
