A feisty EP from Yorkshire’s This Et Al, follows up from their last appearance on a compilation album by sounding even more like Forward Russia. The vocals seem to track FR’s stratospheric melody lines, but it’s the crunching melee of guitars that gives This Et Al a truly post rock feel. “Figure Eight” is crammed with brutal stop starts and crushing, pounding distortions. The slightly more restrained and epic “Ice Age” climbs up into orchestrated jangles and more of that pleasantly numbing and loud guitar. A real move forward for This Et Al with songs you can now really get your teeth into.
