Another release supported by the excellent Leeds stable On The Bone, this mini-album from fellow residents Wintermute is a well executed exercise in hard edged Math rock and shaken indie riffs. All the tracks on here are excellent, so much so that it’s hard not to play this whole compelling thing continuously through on repeat. Especially when you get a track like “Dead Or Not He Was Wearing Sunglasses”. I’m not sure if this is a reference to something like “Weekend At Bernies” but I am sure that it’s a rousing chorus gelled with some fluid twin guitar arpeggios and the steady pulse of bass and drums. Therefore you get the best of the twisted mellow instrumental breaks and lashings of cruising punch drunk guitar slams all in one package. Intelligent, detailed and abrasive don’t normally come in one package, but here they collide with quite powerful consequences.
